UK Services Manager/Snr. Consultant in charge of two staff and involved directly in systems design, programming, equipment maintenance, installation, training and administration.

During this year I designed & programmed an Invoiced & Stock Control Suite (ISCS) in QuickBASIC. Developed and programmed an Invoicing system in Dataflex. Wrote a couple of proposals. Developed a security system to protect programs with a physical key. Worked on various small programs in dBase, converted a set of programs in Italian, based on a CP/M operating system, to one run on PC DOS. Maintained and installed equipment where required. Installed and upgraded software where required. Also carried out various administrative duties from time to time.

Apr 1990 – Aug 1992

Technical Manager/PC Support in charge of two staff and involved directly in PC support, hotline support, systems design, programming, equipment maintenance, installation, training, management and administration.

During this time I have spent 8 months in Zimbabwe (as 3 tours of duty) – an Italian Government paid project for the Ministry of Transport in Harare, Zimbabwe. I was installing and setting up a Novell thick Ethernet system, setting up new machines, setting up Windows on the network, writing a set of management control programs in dBase & Clipper and worked on electronic transport and planning models for the road network in Zimbabwe. I also provided training and support to the project in the areas of programming, AutoCAD and graphics.

Initial support and programming work for Kingston-upon-Thames, written in Clipper. This is a commercial debt recovery system. I cleaned up the code and made it more efficient.

Work for Centro Studi Traffico in London (UK) and Milan (Italy) on the Bus maintenance system for their client SILA (southern Milan bus company). To develop and modify the programs written in BASIC by a young Italian fellow who left them suddenly after finding too difficult. The text of the programs are written in Italian (of which I did not speak a word). The system is a menu driven system that records Distance and Fuel consumption, then reports on abnormalities and costs, as well as forecasting the preventative maintenance required.

I further developed the Invoice and Stock Control Suite (ISCS) in QuickBASIC for London.

I also produced a WareHouse Management System (WHMS) for the North Sinai Governorate in the Sinai desert in Egypt. I travelled to a remote region of the Sinai desert to an Italian Agricultural project to write this system. This was a 3 week project. I also had to teach the staff and the locals how to run the computer and when NOT to cut the power off! The site was run by two generators. At night they switched off the big one and then turned on the small one - leaving a 5 minute gap in the middle!

I have enhanced the invoicing system in Dataflex. Also installed and upgraded software where required, and carried out various management and administrative duties from time to time.

Sep 1992 – Jan 1993 and Apr 1993 – Aug 1993

Further work for the client in Kingston-upon-Thames in which I updated a suite of debt tracking programs in Clipper over a Novell Netware 10 user thin Ethernet system. Shortening the invoicing procedure from 50 hours to 50 minutes by skilful reprogramming and better use of the language.

I further enhanced a suite of Bus maintenance programs in Italian for the Italian consultants in Milan.

Maintained and installed equipment where required. Installed and upgraded software where required.
